They haven't heard any complaints about the sound issue.

Epic necro by CCP Baldur. Proof that devs did in fact read the sound whine threads
Looking forward to the sound blog.

I hope Apochribba sound is still being looked into?

Still think the new sound engine is crappy compared to pre Apochribba sound. Please start an official sound thread so devs and players who enjoy playing EVE with sound can discuss the sound development.

Is there any hope of seeing the 'special sound blog' soon? I really think it would be useful to have an official sound thread where those who love to play EVE with sound can discuss this and get feedback from devs.
Sorry about necroing this, but it is the only thread with a dev response to acknowldge there is a problem with the sound after Apochribba.

Originally by: CCP Baldur Hi all
The reason for a number of problems with audio in Eve can mostly be linked with the implementation of a new sound engine. It hasn't been without problems but we're almost there now. We're very sorry it has caused you such grief but hope you'll forgive us.
Most of the issues that have been discussed here have either been dealt with (in release 1.1) or are being fixed now and will be released next month.
An issue that has been raised here is Sounds (turrets in particular) getting muffled as you zoom away - this is intentional. However, before rel 1.1 it did happen much too fast - this has been addressed now. The idea of placing the listener at ship position is a good one - we will look into if we can have an option of allowing the player to choose between hearing sounds from camera or ship position.
Thanks for taking the time to write about the sound in Eve - we will do as much as possible to address these issues and future ones.
We will shortly do a special Sound blog which should help us all a lot.
EVE need some serious sound love, please. |

I'll answer that; CCP introduced a new sound engine with Apochribba - Wwise.
That sound engine is apparently used in other games without any issues, and this means that the problem is at CCP's end |

I'm sad to say that this is the best option at the moment.

Originally by: CCP Zymurgist Rocius with the new patch coming out Monday I would wait and see if there are any stealth fixes. I see nothing about it directly on the patch notes but it is possible that something strange and unrelated is affecting the sound and may now be fix. Cross your fingers and wait till then is my advice at the moment. If it is still broken then a petition or bug report would be a step in the right direction.
You must be new here |

Originally by: CCP Eris Discordia I forwarded this thread to the new sound programmer who will be relieved to see that people play EVE with the sound on
IŠve been asking him to make a blog but he seems shy, what do you guys think? Do you want a sound blog?
Second dev post in this thread!!! I think it's becoming semi official
A sound blog would be extremely welcome (for those who play with sound enabled). If your new (and only??? ) sound progammer is shy, he should be prepared for the usual "EVE has sound?"-trolling and lots of whines and cries. But hopefully a lot of constructive feedback as well.
+ rep to CCP Eris Discordia

Originally by: Chobalt Rather new to the game, but am I the only one that finds it odd that I can "hear" ships exploding around me, and the mining lasers of someone 5km away from me in a vacuum?
EVE space is actually filled with liquid, and the spaceships behave much like submarines.
